Will it work on my truck?

Yes. It runs off any 12V battery, so it works on cars, pickups, motorcycles, ATVs, boats and snowmobiles. The kit includes cone adapters and tapered plugs that seal against the pipe you are testing. The air pump is built in, so you do not need a compressor.

Is this a real machine or a plastic gadget?

It's a solid metal cabinet with a brass fill cap, a real pressure gauge on the face, and an air pump inside. One thing we will say straight: it finds leaks, it does not fix them. Once the smoke shows you the cracked hose or dried-out grommet, the repair is still on you.

My check engine light is on. Will this find the problem?

What do I need to run it?

A 12V battery and about 15 ml of smoke-test oil per session. Do not overfill it: too much oil is the number one mistake with these machines and it chokes the smoke. Test with the engine off and the pipes cool.
